Getting Stronger vs Pavel's Protocol

I've been following Pavel's 80/20 Powerlifting for dead lift and pull up for about 6 weeks. Here's the article on Tim's blog: ... our-lifts/

It consists of 5 sets of 5 reps, and I rest a minimum of 5 min in between sets. Each week I add about 10lb (5kg). It's going well.

The goal is to increase my deadlift weight by as much as possible in the shortest amount of time WITHOUT injury. Same for pull ups. Which of the two protocols would be more effective?

Note: On Pavel's protocol I've recovered within 3 days from the dead lift. The pull up takes longer.
I'd prefer not to get big but if it's a choice, getting stronger is better
